EU Profiler (www.euprofiler.eu) - the first European-wide application providing advice in view of this year’s European Parliament Elections.
The tool, which has been developed by the EUI (several EUI professors and more than 70 EUI researchers were involved) together with two technical partners (the Swiss NCCR Democracy and the Dutch Kieskompas), offers all European citizens the possibility to analyse in a few minutes which political parties are closest to their political preferences. The mechanism is very simple: the user answers a number of questions regarding current policy options and the software compares the answers with data collected by an international team of social scientists on almost 300 parties in Europe. The user then is provided with several graphical representations of the overlap between his or her political preferences and what is on offer politically in the form of party positions.
